production continued for two years. Actual production started in 1966. Initially
basic drugs for tropical diseases like diarrhoea, amoebic dysentery,
gastroenteritis, constipation, debility and bacterial diseases like T.B. and
Leprosy were taken up-for development because billions of people in the
developing countries are victims of these diseases. It was of great necessity
that drugs for the common and more prevalent diseases were made available to the
vast population. The company started in a humble way to contribute to this
national goal.
Processes for all the drugs manufactured
were established in the company's own R&D laboratories under the expert
guidance of Mr. Hemendra Thakrar. The name of Heni Chemicals soon became well
known in the whole of India for quality drugs. Quality has been the prime
consideration for every new drug taken up or manufacture. The name of the
company made its image abroad also. Quality drugs at competitive prices brought
in export orders, which were executed repeatedly with success. This renewed the
faith of foreign buyers and the export business continued to increase. In 1970,
around 300 KG of Phenolphthalein valued at Rs. 12000/- were exported and in
2002, more than 25 tons of Phenolphthalein valued at Rs. 8750,000/- were
